May 22nd (Tue) in Japan, Kyushu, the south island of Japan where relatively unaffected area from the radiation of Fukushima Daiichi, were receiving the trucks of radioactive rubbles in order to help in the disposal of debris left in Iwate and Miyagi prefectures in the wake of the March 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami.
Local residents were to stop these radioactive trucks at the gate of incinerator plant. As Kyushu remains unaffected from radiation compared to the Eastern parts of Japan, it has been the place to receive the self evacuated families from the affected area, and the place to produce uncontaminated food. The many residents are now afraid of unnecessary further radioactive contamination. From this incineration, about 30% vaporized radioactive materials will be diffused, and the ash will be buried locally, where rain eventually will wash away and the radionuclide will go into the ocean in time. After the 12hrs of radioactive truck blockade, people of Kokura city gathered to the town hall to meet the Department of Environment. Lined up in the front are concerned parents. The mayor did not show up to the meeting.
